Picking a bench
A flat bench does one job, and it is the most stable thing to press on. Adjustable benches add incline and decline for shoulders and upper chest, and most fold for storage. The rated load covers you, the bar and the weight together, so leave room above your heaviest press.
Check the pad width if you press heavy, because a narrow back pad moves under your shoulder blades. A bench with a leg attachment saves floor space, but it gets long when the arm is on and is harder to push against a wall.
